Winder, GA (November 14, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal car accident that happened on a highway in Winder on Friday night, November 11.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-53 and Jackson Trail Road around the area of GA-316. Police confirmed that a Buick Enclave was traveling north when the driver was involved in a serious collision with a GMC Sierra that was traveling east. The Buick then rotated and collided with a Chevy Tahoe whjle the GMC Sierra struck a Dodge Ram pickup truck.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders in Winder were immediately dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Buick, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. One of their passengers was also pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
Police confirmed that two other juvenile passengers in the Buick, the driver of the GMC Sierra, and the driver of the Chevy Tahoe were taken to local hospitals for treatment of injuries. The driver of the Dodge Ram was treated at the scene and is expected to be okay.
Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was completely blocked in the area for some time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
