Wildwood, GA – Child Injured in Serious House Fire on Creek Rd

Wildwood, GA (April 4, 2022) – Injuries were reported in a house fire that took place in Wildwood on Friday afternoon, April 1.

According to Dade County officials, a 15-month-old boy was with his grandparent when a fire broke out in their home on Creek Road. Fire crews received a call and quickly responded to find the home completely engulfed in flames and smoke. The child and grandparent were able to make it out before the home burned to the ground.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The 15-month-old child was rushed to a burn center with second-degree burns to his face, back, hands, and shoulders. His grandparent also sustained minor injuries. The two are expected to fully recover.

The area was blocked off for an extended period of time until fire crews were able to bring the fire entirely under control.

No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the fire remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

House Fires in Georgia

Fires break out in both commercial and residential areas every year in Georgia. These fires sometimes spread out of control, taking down entire homes and more in their paths. Each year, thousands of people are hurt and hundreds lose their lives in serious fires. In just 2020 alone, in fact, it is estimated that 11,900 people were seriously injured in fires throughout the entire U.S. Georgia is no stranger to these incidents, which very quickly cause severe burns and smoke inhalation to those involved. If you have been hurt in a fire, you should be prepared to speak with an attorney that you can rely on.

Nobody is ever fully prepared to face the aftermath of a house fire on their own. If you have sustained injuries in one of these incidents, you may be left with questions that you cannot answer.
