Deadly Dirt Bike Accidents in Georgia
Every year, accidents involving dirt bikes happen throughout Georgia. In fact, Georgia has more off-road accidents than many other states across the nation. There were approximately 4,733 motorcycle fatalities nationwide in 2019, according to reports. Only 61 of them were riders of dirt bikes. Your life might be impacted in a variety of ways if you lose someone you love in a fatal dirt bike accident. You have alternatives if you and your family have been affected by these losses. It is in your best interests to speak with a lawyer during these trying times.
Wrongful death is the term used to describe when someone dies as a result of someone else’s carelessness, criminal activity, or due to malfunctioning machinery. No matter whether someone was negligent or purposefully acting wrongfully, anybody who was a part of the incident can be held liable for the wrongful death. After the decedent’s death, their estate or surviving family members may file a lawsuit to seek compensation against the person or organization that was responsible for their demise. The only method to respect the life of the deceased, make up for the loss of the surviving, and hold the person or entity accountable is through civil law, even if money cannot erase the pain of such a loss.
There are two categories of negligent death suits in Georgia. The first is a common wrongful death claim brought by the deceased’s survivors (children, parents, or other legal heirs), and it seeks to recover the full value of the deceased’s life from the standpoint of the deceased. The jury renders judgment on these issues. Georgia does not take the grief of the deceased’s surviving family members into account while calculating these components, but there is no set methodology. It is advisable that you speak with a qualified attorney if you want to determine whether you can make a claim.
