Semi-Truck Accidents in South Carolina

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, accidents involving heavy trucks resulted in more than 5,000 fatalities in 2013. The great majority of individuals killed were occupants of other vehicles. Unfortunately, this dangerous tendency will continue to exist as long as the trucking industry continues to put pressure on its drivers to complete deliveries more rapidly without taking other road users’ safety into account.
The cost of medical treatment for injuries sustained in car accidents is well known to be very high. An arm that has been fractured may cost several thousand dollars to repair. For those who sustain injuries in car accidents, the cost of services like medical care and rehabilitation may even be higher. When the financial effects of one injury are combined with the loss of income sustained as a result of having to take time off work to recover, the outcomes can be disastrous.
Anyone who suffers losses as a result of a collision brought on by the carelessness or negligence of another motorist may be eligible for financial compensation by filing a claim for an automobile accident. In this kind of civil lawsuit, the injured party must prove that the at-fault party owed them a duty of care, such as driving legally and safely, that the duty of care was breached by the at-fault party, that the violation led to the accident and its associated costs, and that the violation was the accident’s primary cause.
