
Thomson, GA (February 6, 2023) – Injuries stemmed from a school bus crash that took place on a major roadway in Thomson on Monday, February 6.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened at 3300 Augusta Highway. Police confirmed that a McDuffie County school bus was traveling in the area when a passenger vehicle driver failed to maintain their lane. They headed into the same lane as the school bus, causing the two vehicles to collide with one another. The bus driver claimed that they did everything that they could to avoid the collision, but they were unsuccessful.
Several Thomson responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Both people inside the passenger vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital. A child inside the school bus also sustained an injury and was hospitalized, though their current condition is not yet known. The bus driver, as well as 12 students on the bus, were evaluated at the scene but were not injured.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time following the accident.
