Thomasville, GA (March 16, 2023) – A man was killed in a pedestrian accident involving a driver at a Thomasville Walmart who slammed through the front of a Walmart.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Wednesday morning at the local Walmart on US-19. Police confirmed that a driver was speeding in the area when his gray Toyota Camry slammed through the front of the store entrance. The driver of the vehicle struck multiple people with his vehicle. He then got out of the vehicle and tried to flee the scene but was stopped by those inside the store.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. One of the involved pedestrians, who has been identified as Kenneth Kennedy, was tragically pronounced dead due to traumatic injuries sustained by the collision. One other pedestrian sustained injuries. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 18-year-old Khalil Amarion Pugh, was not hurt.

Police confirmed that Pugh was taken into custody for questioning and was since arrested, along with his passenger. Pugh is now facing charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and driving without a license.

The store was closed all day on Wednesday following the incident.

No further details have been released, but police continue their investigation into the accident.
