Summerville, GA – Update: William Lee Killed in Pedestrian Crash at GA-27 & Dot Johnson Dr
Summerville, GA (September 26, 2022) – Around 7 a.m. on Friday, September 23, a pedestrian was killed in a Summerville intersection accident. The victim has now been identified by police.
According to Summerville officials, the accident happened at the intersection of GA-27 and Dot Johnson Drive in the early morning hours. Police confirmed that 57-year-old William Lee was walking in the area when he started to cross the street at the intersection. He was suddenly struck by a passenger vehicle that allegedly remained at the scene.
Summerville responders, including fire crews and paramedics, arrived at the scene immediately. Due to the nature of his injuries, he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Nobody else was hurt as a result of the collision.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
