Stonecrest, GA (March 19, 2023) – Several parties sustained injuries in a two-vehicle collision that took place on a highway in Stonecrest on Sunday evening.
According to DeKalb County officials, the accident happened around 9:20 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-20 close to the area of Lithonia Industrial Boulevard. Three vehicles were traveling on the highway when they became involved in a chain-reaction collision due to reasons that are not fully known. The involved vehicles were severely damaged as a result of the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other Stonecrest responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Several parties were walking outside their vehicles, but one or more were in need of medical attention. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals by ambulance.
One left lane of traffic was blocked in the area for some time. Police urged those traveling through to use Covington Highway as an alternate route.
