Stone Mtn, GA – Update: Two Killed in Fatal Crash at S Hairston Rd & Elam Rd

Stone Mountain, GA (March 7, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal crash at an intersection in Stone Mountain on Friday, March 4. The parties have since been identified by police. 

According to DeKalb County Police, the accident happened around 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of South Hairston Road and Elam Road. A driver was traveling in the area when they started to make a U-turn at the intersection. Their vehicle was then struck by a second vehicle, which caused the first one to overturn. The vehicles involved in the accident were extensively damaged as a result. 

Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two people were killed in the accident. These parties have since been identified as 31-year-old Montavious Tigner and 36-year-old Curlila Thomas. A third person, identified as a male juvenile, was also pulled from the rolled vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, identified only as an adult male, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries as well. 

The roadway was blocked in several lanes for a period of time as police worked to clear the scene. 

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
