
Smyrna, GA (December 30, 2022) – Around midnight on Friday, December 30, one person was killed in a fatal house fire that took place in Smyrna.
According to Smyrna Fire Department responders, the fire broke out in a home on Cooper Lake Court. Firefighters received a call from neighbors, who said that heavy smoke was pouring out of the front door of the home. When they arrived, they tried to make entry into the bedroom so that they could help those who may be trapped inside.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. One person, who has not yet been identified, was tragically pronounced dead on scene after being pulled from the bedroom. Another person, identified only as an adult male, received smoke inhalation injuries and was hospitalized. His current condition is not yet known.
The area was blocked off for an extended period of time as crews worked to bring the fire under control.
The investigation into the circumstances leading up to the fire continues. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.
