Savannah, GA (December 12, 2022) – An officer sustained injuries in a serious car accident that took place on a Savannah highway on Friday night, December 9.
According to Walthourville Police, the accident happened around 9:30 p.m. on West Oglethorpe Highway. Police confirmed that a police officer was traveling in a marked police cruiser when he attempted to make a U-turn in the road. He was suddenly struck by a Ford F-150 pickup truck, causing severe damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The officer sustained injuries as a result of the accident and was rushed to Liberty Regional Medical Center. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic until police cleared the scene, which led to delays.
