Rome, GA (February 2, 2023) – A man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a roadway in Rome on Monday night, January 30. According to Rome Police Department officials, the accident happened on Second Avenue around the area of the Shrimp Boat restaurant. Police confirmed that a wheelchair-bound pedestrian was traveling across the street when they were suddenly struck by the driver of a Nissan Cube due to reasons that are not yet known.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 67-year-old Randy Floyd, was seriously injured and taken to Floyd Hospital. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to his traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the collision.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes near the scene of the collision. It is not known if the driver will be facing any charges for their role in the accident. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
