
Roberta, GA (January 17, 2023) – Around 7:10 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, January 17, two people were found deceased following a house fire in Roberta.
According to Crawford County officials, the fire broke out in a home at 5958 Whitaker Road. Fire crews received a call early in the morning and arrived at the scene where they found that a structure was completely on fire. Fire crews worked to put out the fire and help anybody who may be trapped inside.
Paramedics and various other Roberta responders were called to the scene to help those in need. There were two people found inside the structure by fire crews, who were tragically pronounced dead at the scene. They have since been identified as 89-year-old Cleonia Raines and 65-year-old Veronica Raines. Nobody else was hurt as a result of the fire.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the fire until police and fire crews were able to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
