Ringgold, GA – Two Killed in Fatal Semi-Truck Accident on Three Notch Rd
Ringgold, GA (July 16, 2022) – Around 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon, July 15, two people were killed in a fatal semi-truck accident in Ringgold.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Three Notch Road around the area of Battlefield Parkway. A semi-truck driver was traveling in the area headed west when the driver suddenly ran a red light. This caused the truck to slam into an SUV in a T-bone style accident, leading to extensive damages.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. Two adults inside the SUV, who have not yet been formally identified, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. Three children were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries but have since been listed in stable condition.
The driver of the semi-truck, identified as 47-year-old Joseph Chislom, was not hurt in the accident. He has since been charged with two counts of homicide, driving too fast for conditions, disobeying a traffic signal, and more.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for several hours as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released. Police continue their investigation into the accident at this time.
We offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time. We also hope that the injured parties will receive a speedy recovery.
