Ridgeville, SC (December 29, 2022) – Officials have identified the man who was killed following a head-on collision in the Ridgeville area on Tuesday morning, December 27.
The fatal crash took place on Interstate 26 near SC-27 at around 12:05 a.m. It was later revealed that 50-year-old Darl Johnson of Elloree was driving an eastbound 2018 Chrysler sedan when he was hit head-on by a westbound Hyundai SUV. The driver of the Hyundai was reportedly traveling in the wrong direction on the highway.
Johnson was killed, and a passenger in his vehicle was hurt. The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were also injured. No additional information has been provided.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the fatal accident is in progress.
