Ridgeville, SC (December 28, 2022) – A wrong-way collision in Ridgeville left one person dead and others injured on Tuesday morning, December 27.
The fatal crash was reported on Interstate 26 near Volvo Car Drive early that morning. It was reported that a Chrysler sedan was headed west when an eastbound Hyundai SUV drifted into oncoming traffic. Both vehicles crashed head-on, and the driver of the Chrysler was killed. Another passenger in the vehicle was hospitalized, as were the driver and passenger of the Hyundai.
All lanes were closed while emergency responders were present. The identities of the involved parties have not been provided.
An ongoing investigation into the cause of the deadly crash is in progress.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery
The impact of two cars crashing head-on has the potential to be devastating. These types of collisions are known to result in permanent damage for those involved. Even though they only account for 2% of collisions each year, you will almost likely suffer significant injuries. Head-on collisions account for 10% of all road deaths nationwide, and thousands of fatalities are reported annually in the United States.
It is more than upsetting when a family member passes away suddenly and without warning. An investigation must be started whenever there is even the remotest chance that the death may have been brought on by the carelessness, recklessness, or criminal intent of another person. If a loved one dies in a vehicle accident, you could be eligible to file a claim for compensation against the negligent parties. You could be able to use this to replace the major earner’s income, pay for your funeral and medical expenses, and receive compensation for the emotional distress you’ve experienced because of the loss.
A “wrongful death” is defined by South Carolina law as a death that was caused by someone else’s carelessness, negligence, or conduct of a crime. If the victim was still alive and had been harmed as a result, they should have been given the opportunity to make a claim against the person or business that perpetrated this unlawful act or omission and receive compensation. We want to help you recover after a devastating loss.
At Monge & Associates, helping families who lost a loved one as a result of someone else’s negligence has always been our main priority.
