
Pine Mountain, GA (February 16, 2023) – Two men were killed in a fatal car accident involving a construction zone in Pine Mountain on Sunday morning, February 12.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident took place around 8 a.m. in the southbound lanes of State Route 1 near Smokey Road. Police confirmed that two men were inside a 1999 GMC Sonoma that was traveling south on the highway when the driver traveled into a one-lane construction area. The vehicle collided with an excavator in the area, leading to severe damage.
Several responders, including paramedics and Pine Mountain fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The two individuals inside the Sonoma, who has since been identified as 57-year-old Jerry Tucker and 57-year-old Alvin Passmore, were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked for an extended period of time in the area of the accident until the scene was cleared.
