Montego Bay, GA (February 7, 2023) – A worker was injured in a workplace accident that took place close to an elementary school in Montego Bay on Monday afternoon, February 6.

According to Habersham County officials, the accident happened around 1 p.m. in a vacant parking lot just north of the Woodville Elementary School. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they discovered that a worker was found approximately 20 feet up inside a tree while working. He was not responsive and in and out of consciousness due to reasons that crews could not identify.

Paramedics and several other responders were called to the scene to help. The worker was rescued from the tree in approximately one hour. They were then rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center by medical helicopter. Their condition is not yet known.

The area was blocked off for some time while fire crews rescued the party.

Police did not confirm what work the employee was conducting in the area. Their investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
