Midway, GA (February 27, 2023) – Around 3 a.m. on the morning of Friday, February 24, three people were killed in a fatal car accident on a highway in Midway.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Leroy Coffer Highway near its intersection with Arcadia Drive. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when they collided head-on with each other due to reasons that are still being investigated. The vehicles, identified as an SUV and a sedan, sustained severe damages as a result of the crash.
Several responders, including Midway fire crews and paramedics, were immediately dispatched to the scene. A total of two people inside the SUV were tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. One person inside the sedan was also killed in the accident. It is not known if anyone sustained injuries as a result of the crash.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was completely blocked in the area for several hours. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
