
Macon, GA (March 16, 2023) – Around 9:43 p.m. on the night of Wednesday, March 15, a woman was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident in Macon.
According to Macon officials, the accident happened at 2400 Rocky Creek Road. Police confirmed that a female pedestrian was walking in the area when she was suddenly struck by a female mechanic in the area. The driver originally fled the scene following the collision and then came back when police arrived.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Macon responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 46-year-old Tracie Pitts, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the road was blocked for some time. Police did not say whether or not they arrested the mechanic.
The investigation into the collision remains ongoing. Police will update with new information as it becomes available.
