Macon, GA (January 18, 2023) – A teen was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place in Macon on Tuesday night, January 17.
According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened around 9:40 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-75 around the area of Sardis Church Road. Police confirmed that a 17-year-old got out of her vehicle and onto the highway, where she was suddenly struck by a Chevrolet Avalanche. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The teen, who has only been identified as a 17-year-old girl, was seriously injured in the accident. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in several lanes of traffic for some time following the crash. This led to delays until the scene was cleared.
