
Macon, GA (March 14, 2023) – Around 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, March 11, a critical truck accident took place on a major roadway in Macon.
According to Bibb County officials, the accident happened on Broadway around the area of Flamingo Drive. Police confirmed that a GMC was traveling north on the roadway when it was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer that was pulling out of a local driveway. Both vehicles were damaged as a result of the collision.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. The driver of the GMC, who has since been identified as 72-year-old Larry Ryder, was hurt in the accident. His 67-year-old passenger, identified as Wanda Washington, also sustained injuries. The two have been listed in critical condition at Atrium Health Navicent.
The roadway was blocked near the intersection for some time after the accident. This led to major delays in the area.
