Lula, GA (February 20, 2023) – One person was killed in a fatal apartment fire that took place in Lula on the morning of Sunday, February 19.
According to local officials, the incident took place around 11:30 a.m. at 8800 Forrester Road. Police confirmed that a single-story residence caught fire in the area. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found that a second property behind the first one caught on fire and worked to put out that fire as well. The two structures were identified as an apartment and a barn.
Local paramedics and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene. One person was inside the apartment at the time of the fire and was taken out by fire crews. However, the party was tragically pronounced deceased at the scene due to traumatic injuries caused by the fire. Nobody else was hurt in the fire.
Due to the severity of the fire, the barn was considered a total loss, and the residence sustained partial damages. The area was blocked for an extended period of time until fire crews brought the fire under control.
No further details have been released, but the investigation into the fire continues at this time.
We offer our warmest condolences to the family and friends of the victim whose life was taken in this fire.
