Lawrenceville, GA (March 7, 2023) – On Sunday night, March 5, a man was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident that took place on a major roadway in Lawrenceville.
According to Lawrenceville Police, the accident happened on Grayson Highway around the area of Crain Drive. Police confirmed that an officer was patrolling in the area when he suddenly noticed something in the middle of the road. He also saw a vehicle nearby with hazard lights on. When he went to investigate, he discovered a man lying on the road. Upon investigation, the officer found that a driver was headed south in the area when they struck the pedestrian, who started to cross the street. Two other vehicles then collided with the victim.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The pedestrian, who was only identified as an adult male, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
Police confirmed that the first and second drivers to strike the pedestrian pulled over and attempted to render aid. However, the third driver got back in his vehicle and fled the scene. He was later located and arrested on various charges.
