LaGrange, GA – Update: Two Killed in Fatal Car Crash on Upper Big Springs Rd, Identified

LaGrange, GA (February 28, 2023) – Two people were killed in a fatal car accident that took place in LaGrange on Saturday morning, February 25. The parties have since been identified by police.
According to authorities, the accident happened in the early morning hours on Upper Big Springs Road near the area of Hood Road. Police confirmed that a white Toyota Tacoma was stopped and making a left turn onto Hood. At the same time, a silver Ford Edge approached the Toyota from the rear and attempted to avoid slamming into the Tacoma. The Edge collided head-on with a Chevrolet Suburban, leading to extensive damages.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver and passenger inside the Suburban were seriously injured and tragically passed away at the scene. They have since been identified by police as Mike Speight and Leanne Speight.
Due to the severity of the accident, the intersection was completely blocked in the area for some time.
No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
