According to LaGrange Police Department officials, the accident happened around 5:37 a.m. on the railroad tracks at Douglas Street. Police confirmed that a tractor-trailer driver was traveling in the area when he came to a stop on the railroad tracks in the area due to reasons that are not entirely known. A train approached the area and collided with the truck when it was unable to come to a stop.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the truck was allegedly unable to escape the truck until the train hit. Nobody on the train complained of injuries caused by the accident.
A portion of the area was blocked off for some time. The truck sustained severe damage, and pieces had to be removed from the scene, causing delays.
