South Carolina Deadly Motorcycle Crashes

Johns Island, SC - Motorcyclist Dies in Collision at Cane Slash Rd & Grand Bay Ln

State data reveals that there were 215,957 registered motorcyclists in South Carolina in 2019. That is nearly 23,000 riders more than there was the previous year. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the state’s rate of deadly motorcycle crashes was slightly higher than the national average from 2011 to 2015, with riders accounting for nearly 18.8% of deadly crashes in the state in 2015.

Motorcyclists, even when they follow the necessary safety protocol, have little protection when colliding with a motor vehicle. This places them at greater risk of suffering serious to life-threatening injuries in the event of a collision. Common road hazards such as potholes, ice, cracks, or slick roads are a much greater risk for motorcyclists. Motorcycle crashes can leave riders paralyzed, as amputees, or with other types of permanent disability that can greatly impact their ability to live their lives as they once could. Wrongful death lawyers in Johns Island can help injured parties and their families pursue due compensation after a serious accident.
