Hinesville, GA (January 30, 2023) – A child sustained serious injuries as a result of a pedestrian accident that took place at a Hinesville intersection on Saturday night, January 28.

According to Hinesville Police Department officials, the accident happened at 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Shaw Road and Forest Lake Drive. A 12-year-old boy was walking in the area alongside the road near the intersection. He suddenly came into contact with a passenger vehicle that remained at the scene after the accident.

Several responders, including Hinesville paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. When paramedics arrived at the scene, they found the child alert and conscious. He was seriously injured, however, and had to be flown to the hospital by medical helicopter. He has since been listed in stable condition.

A portion of the intersection was blocked for an extended period of time. Police confirmed that the driver is not yet facing any charges due to their role in the accident.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
