Gaston, SC (January 4, 2023) – A man was killed following a hit-and-run accident in the Gaston area on Tuesday, January 3.
At around 11 p.m., the deadly crash took place on Fish Hatchery Road near Kimmey Road. A southbound pickup truck hit the rear of a moped, and the at-fault driver fled the scene. The rider of the moped, 37-year-old Darrell Ferris Branham of Leesville, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.
The driver was later identified as 36-year-old Charles Matthew Besancon and has been charged in connection with the accident. No further information has been provided.
Local authorities are handling the ongoing accident investigation.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Darrell Ferris Branham at this time.
According to crash records from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, more deadly moped collisions happened in 2014’s first half than in 2013. In all, there were 18, compared to 7 over the same time period in 2013.
The surviving family members of an accident victim have the right to submit a wrongful death claim if the person’s death in a collision was brought on by another party’s fault. These claims, which are frequently submitted by the decedent’s personal representative, are intended to provide the bereaved family members with financial assistance. South Carolina law provides the victim’s immediate family with protection in a number of situations. This can be an allusion to the victim’s partner, children, or parents.
The bereaved families that are involved in wrongful death litigation find it difficult, and the callous insurance companies that delay payment can make it even more difficult. Some people might be able to begin the process of recovering from a catastrophic loss by making financial adjustments with the money from the damages they were granted. You may get on with your life after losing a loved one with the aid of a skilled South Carolina wrongful death attorney.
