
Gaston, SC (January 4, 2023) – A man was killed following a hit-and-run accident in the Gaston area on Tuesday, January 3.
At around 11 p.m., the deadly crash took place on Fish Hatchery Road near Kimmey Road. A southbound pickup truck hit the rear of a moped, and the at-fault driver fled the scene. The rider of the moped, 37-year-old Darrell Ferris Branham of Leesville, was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead.
The driver was later identified as 36-year-old Charles Matthew Besancon and has been charged in connection with the accident. No further information has been provided.
Local authorities are handling the ongoing accident investigation.
