Garden City, GA (February 15, 2023) – Two people sustained injuries in a house fire that took place in Garden City on the morning of Tuesday, February 14.

According to Garden City officials, the fire broke out in a home on Chatham Villa Drive. Police confirmed that the catastrophic fire broke out in the early morning hours at around 3 a.m. When fire crews made it to the scene, they discovered that smoke and flames were engulfing a large portion of the home. Crews were told that the fire broke out in the kitchen and that eight people were inside the home at the time of the fire.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately called to the scene. A total of two people were hurt in the fire. A young male child was severely burned and flown to Augusta Burn Unit by medical helicopter. An adult male suffered from smoke inhalation injuries and was also hospitalized. Police confirmed that the father of the children rushed into the fire to save his kids.

The scene was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. This led to delays in traffic. Fire crews worked to put out the fire as quickly as possible.

The investigation into the circumstances of the fire continues.
