Gainesville, GA (February 6, 2023) – A woman was killed in a fatal train crash that took place in Gainesville on the morning of Thursday, February 2.

According to Hall County officials, the accident happened on the train tracks around the area of Dorsey Street and Industrial Boulevard at 7 a.m. When investigators responded to the scene, they discovered that a woman was struck by a passing train in the area. They believe that the woman was crossing the train tracks when she was struck by a train. It is believed that she may have been searching for an item in the area.

Several responders, including Gainesville paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 50-year-old Bonnie Carrillo, was critically injured in the accident and rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. She was tragically pronounced dead from her injuries while there.

The area was blocked off for an extended period of time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible.
