Last updated Wednesday, March 1st, 2023

Fort Oglethorpe, GA (February 28, 2023) – At 6:02 p.m. on the evening of Monday, February 27, a rear-end collision with injuries occurred on a highway in Fort Oglethorpe.

According to Catoosa County officials, the accident happened on the Battlefield Parkway near the local Walmart. Police confirmed that two vehicles were traveling in the area when one of the vehicles rear-ended the other due to following too closely. One of the vehicles sustained severe front-end damage, and the other sustained damage to its rear.

Several responders, including Fort Oglethorpe paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene. One or more parties were hurt as a result of the collision. The injured victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the road was blocked in the area for some time. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing. Police will update with more information as it becomes available.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the parties who have sustained injuries in this accident.
