Flowery Branch, GA (March 20, 2023) – A man from North Carolina was injured in a pedestrian accident that took place in Flowery Branch on Friday evening, March 17.
According to Flowery Branch officials, the accident happened at 6 p.m. on Spout Springs Road. Police confirmed that a North Carolina man was walking across the street in a crosswalk when he was suddenly struck by a driver in a passenger vehicle. The driver stopped and remained at the scene following the accident.
Paramedics and several other local responders were called to the scene. The pedestrian, identified as James Powers, was rushed to a local hospital after he told paramedics that he was experiencing lower back pain. He is expected to be okay.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, identified as John Hickey, was not hurt in the accident. He was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for some time. This led to delays until the scene was fully cleared.
