Duluth, GA (March 19, 2023) – Around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, a car accident with injuries occurred on a roadway in the Duluth area, just outside of Atlanta.
According to local officials, the accident happened on southbound I-85 at Highway 53. Police confirmed that two or more vehicles were traveling in the area when they merged into the Highway 53 off-ramp simultaneously, causing them to collide with one another.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other Duluth responders were dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. Multiple EMS vehicles were present, and at least two or three injured parties were being checked out at the scene. The victims were hospitalized for further treatment, though their conditions are not yet known.
A portion of the highway was blocked for some time, which led to extensive delays. No further details have been released in the meantime, but the investigation remains ongoing. Police will update with new information as it is available.
