Dacula, GA (March 7, 2023) – Around 4 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, March 7, a tractor-trailer collision with injuries occurred on a highway in Dacula.
According to Gwinnett County officials, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of GA-316 around the area of Fence Road. Police confirmed that a tractor-trailer was attempting to make a U-turn while another vehicle was entering the intersection from another direction. The two vehicles collided with one another, pushing the small vehicle under the truck’s trailer. The vehicles were both extensively damaged in the accident.
Several responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Witnesses attempted to get the driver of the passenger vehicle out of their car, but they were unsuccessful. Fire crews were able to extricate them. The victim was then rushed to the hospital with serious injuries and needed emergency surgery. Nobody else was hurt in the accident.
A large portion of the roadway was blocked in the area of the accident until 7 a.m. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible for morning traffic.
