
Cumming, GA (March 7, 2023) – A woman was killed in a fatal car accident that took place on a highway in Cumming. The woman has since been identified by police.
According to Forsyth County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of GA-400 during the morning commute. Police confirmed that a Hyundai Elantra was traveling in the area when it was struck by a carbon dioxide tanker truck due to reasons that are not entirely known. The Elantra was left with severe damages as a result of the collision.
Several local responders, including paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. A medical helicopter was called to the scene, and the passenger in the Elantra had to be extricated by fire crews. She was rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center but was tragically pronounced dead while there. The other parties sustained injuries as a result of the accident.
Multiple lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for an extended period of time following the collision.
No further details have been released, but police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident.
