Cumming, GA – Two Killed in Fatal Head-on Crash at Bannister Rd & Mockingbird Rd 

Cumming, GA (March 23, 2022) – Two people were killed in a fatal head-on crash that took place at an intersection in Cumming, Georgia. 

According to Forsyth County officials, the accident happened around 8:25 a.m. at the intersection of Bannister Road and Mockingbird Road. Police confirmed that a 36-year-old woman named Jessica James was traveling in the area when her vehicle and a Hyundai Elantra collided head-on due to reasons that are not entirely known. 

Several responders, including local paramedics and fire crews, were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. James was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. A passenger inside the Hyundai, who has since been identified as 38-year-old Sarah Decoteau, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries where she was also pronounced deceased. A teenage passenger in the same vehicle was taken to the hospital with injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, who has not yet been identified, was also hospitalized. 

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene. 

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing at this time. Police will update as more information is made available.
