Cumming, GA (April 30, 2022) – On Wednesday, April 27, a car crash took place at an intersection in Cumming. 

According to Forsyth County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Browns Bridge Road and Shady Grove Road. Officers were pursuing a vehicle when they allegedly made a turn at the intersection. The officers were then struck by a white pickup truck that was also making a turn. The driver of the pickup truck got out of the truck and fled the scene on foot. 

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. Two deputies, who have not yet been identified, were injured in the accident. They were hospitalized but are expected to be okay. 

The roadway was blocked at the intersection for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene. 

The driver of the pickup truck has since been arrested. He was charged with theft by taking, assault on a peace officer, and more. 

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
