Columbus, GA (February 6, 2023) – One person lost their life in a fatal truck accident that took place at a Columbus intersection on Monday, February 6.
According to Muscogee County officials, the accident happened in the early morning hours at the intersection of Woodruff Farm Road and Corporate Ridge Parkway. Police confirmed that a passenger vehicle was traveling in the area when it entered the intersection, slamming into a tractor-trailer that also went through the intersection at the same time. The involved vehicles both sustained damages in the accident.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the passenger vehicle, who has since been identified as 19-year-old Levi Whitten, was rushed to Grady Hospital with severe injuries. He was tragically pronounced dead while there.
The roadway was completely blocked at the intersection for some time. Police worked to clear the scene as quickly as possible so traffic could return to normal.
