Each year, car crashes across South Carolina leave victims with serious injuries. Unfortunately, we see many people left with traumatic brain injuries, broken bones, and other severe injuries that require medical care. Tens of thousands of people in our state are hospitalized annually following accidents, many of which are caused by negligence.

There are a number of factors that contribute to the severity of injuries sustained in a car crash. One factor is the speed at which the vehicles were traveling. The higher the speed, the greater the force of impact and the more severe the injuries are likely to be.

Another factor that contributes to the severity of car crash-related injuries is whether or not seat belts were worn by the occupants of the vehicle. Seat belts help to keep people in their seats during a crash and prevent them from being ejected from the vehicle, which can lead to more serious injuries.

The size and weight of vehicles also play a role in how severe crash-related injuries can be. Smaller, lighter vehicles are more likely to sustain significant damage in a collision than larger, heavier ones. This is because they have less mass to absorb the force of impact and are more likely to be pushed around or overturned by larger vehicles.
