Clayton, GA – Child Injured in Serious Bicycle Accident on Stekoa Falls Rd

Clayton, GA (October 31, 2022) – Around 5 p.m. on the evening of Saturday, October 29, a child was hurt in a bicycle accident in Clayton.

According to Georgia State Patrol officials, the accident happened on Stekoa Falls Road around the area of Clayton Church of God. Police confirmed that a 13-year-old boy from Clayton was on his bicycle traveling north after leaving the church driveway. A Chevy Silverado was traveling east when the driver collided with a bicyclist, which caused the child to fall off of his bike and onto the road.

Several responders, including Clayton paramedics and fire crews, were called to the scene to help those in need. The 13-year-old boy sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck, who has since been identified as a 24-year-old man from Clayton, was not hurt but remained at the scene.

A portion of the road was blocked in the area until police were able to clear the scene. No charges have been brought against the driver of the truck as of yet.

Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident. They will update as new information becomes available.

We offer our warmest thoughts to the boy recovering from injuries caused by this accident.

Bicycle Accidents in Georgia

Bicyclists are some of the most at-risk parties on our roads in the state of Georgia. This is due to the fact that bicyclists have no protection from harm in the event of an accident involving any type of large vehicle. In 2015, it was reported by the CDC that over 467,000 bicycle accidents took place in the U.S. that led to injuries. Georgia is no stranger to these accidents, which are made even more severe when children are involved. If you have been hurt in a bicycle crash caused by another party, you should speak with an attorney who has your best interests in mind.

The aftermath of a bicycle accident can affect your life in a variety of ways. You may wonder where you can turn during these difficult times. It is normal to be left with questions that you may not be able to answer on your own. For instance, what evidence is necessary to prove that another party is to blame for your collision? What deadlines will you be required to meet when it comes to moving forward with a claim? Will your case be settled or will it make it all the way to trial? These are questions that you can answer with the help of a Clayton personal injury attorney on your side.
