Fatal Head-On Collisions in South Carolina

Clarks Hill, SC - Two Drivers Killed in Head-On Crash at SC-28 & Melrose Rd

Due to the tremendous force experienced by both drivers in head-on collision crashes, they are perhaps the most deadly kind of collisions. In contrast to other collisions, this one occurs as two cars are moving in the other direction. Only 2% of collisions, according to statistics, are head-on collisions, but they are responsible for considerably over 10% of traffic fatalities.

Under South Carolina law, wrongful death claims may be made if it can be proven that someone died as a result of another person’s conduct, whether those actions were negligent or intentional. The deceased’s surviving spouse and children may file the lawsuit on their behalf. If the deceased person has no surviving spouse or children, their parents may bring a lawsuit on their behalf. If the dead did not leave behind a spouse, children, or parents, the heirs stand to gain financially from any legal action taken.

When a family member dies abruptly, and without notice, it is more than devastating. Anytime there is even the slightest possibility that a fatality may have been caused by someone else’s negligence, recklessness, or criminal intent, an investigation must be opened. You might be qualified to make a claim for compensation from the parties at fault if a loved one perishes in a car accident. You might be able to utilize this to replace the income of the primary breadwinner, cover your funeral and medical costs, and get reimbursed for the emotional pain you’ve had as a result of the loss.
