Buford, GA – Two Injured in Boat Fire on Lake Lanier

Buford, GA (July 24, 2022) – Around 12:33 p.m. on the afternoon of Sunday, July 24, two people were injured in a boat fire in Buford.

According to Hall County officials, the fire broke out on a boat near the area of Lanier Islands Parkway. When fire crews arrived at the scene, they found that a boat was fully engulfed in flames. Black smoke became emitted from the boat, which was about 100 feet from the shore when fire crews arrived. It took some time to bring the fire under control.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were dispatched to the scene. Two boaters were on board at the time of the fire. The parties made it onto another vessel before the boat became completely engulfed in flames. The two parties were rushed to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

The area was blocked off for an extended period of time until fire crews were able to bring it under control.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time.
