Scott Monge Examines Two Dramatic Pedestrian Accidents in Georgia

According to research from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, pedestrian accidents are major problems in the United States. The study shows that approximately 4,700 pedestrians die in traffic accidents each year, and more than 76,000 suffer injuries during the same period. Essentially, this translates into a pedestrian death every two hours and an injury every seven minutes on U.S. roads.

The same research suggests that the elderly and children are most at risk of being victims of pedestrian accidents. As well, impaired drivers cause approximately 50 percent of these accidents.

It is clear that pedestrian safety is a major concern in the United States. If you or someone from your family has been injured in an accident, Monge & Associates can assist. Train Hits and Kills Pedestrian

The Daily Tribune reports that police are trying to identify the body of a man who was hit and killed by a train. According to the local county Sheriff’s office, the accident happened after midnight on a section of railroad tracks that run beneath Cassville Road.

According to officials, the body of the deceased was unidentifiable owing to the extent of the injuries caused by the accident. Investigators were able to describe the victim is a black male in his mid to late 20s, and they have asked the public for assistance in possibly identifying him. Police also intend to use fingerprints to gain some form of identification as no one matching his description has been reported missing in the area.

Police believe the man died on impact and was not already dead when the train struck him.

Bus Strikes Woman, Leaving Her in Critical Condition
