Major Vehicle Collisions Reported in South Carolina

The most current South Carolina vehicle accident statistics indicate that a collision may occur anywhere and to anybody. The S.C. Department of Public Safety (SCDPS) says that one in every 18 licensed drivers in our state was involved in a collision in 2015, or close to 6% of the total licensed population. Like the rest of the nation, South Carolina has lately seen a dramatic spike in the number of auto accident injuries and fatalities.

According to SCDPS and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) figures, between 2014 and 2015, the number of traffic-related deaths in the United States grew from 32,744 to 35,092, a rise of 7% that was the greatest percentage increase in 50 years. The number of traffic-related fatalities in South Carolina grew from 823 to 979, a growth rate of about 20%
