Augusta, GA – Individual Injured in Train Accident Near 9th St

Augusta, GA (June 4, 2022) – On Thursday night, June 2, an individual was injured in a train accident that took place in Augusta near an intersection.

According to deputies, the accident happened around 11:03 p.m. on the railroad tracks near 9th Street and Fenwick Street. Police confirmed that an adult male was in the area when, for reasons that are not yet known, he ended up on the tracks at the same time that a train was arriving. The train was moving slowly at the time, so the impact was less forceful.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The male pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of unknown injuries. He is expected to make a full recovery at this time.

The area was blocked off in the area of the accident for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene so service could return to normal.

No further details have been released at this time. Police continue their investigation and will update with any new information.

Our thoughts go out to the party who has been injured as a result of this accident.

Train Accidents in Georgia

Train accidents do not happen as commonly as other accidents in the state of Georgia. However, when these accidents do occur, they tend to lead to some of the most extensive harm. This is due to the fact that trains are so large compared to vehicles or pedestrians who end up on the tracks.
