Atlanta, GA (February 23, 2023) – At 4:15 p.m. on the afternoon of Thursday, February 23, a car accident with serious injuries took place on a highway in Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened in the westbound lanes of I-20 around the area of exit 55, Lowery Boulevard. Police confirmed that three or more vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision in the area due to reasons that are not fully known. News footage of the scene showed multiple vehicles with extensive damages.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other local responders in Atlanta were called to the scene to help those in need. Multiple parties sustained injuries as a result of the collision. The injured parties were taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their current conditions are not entirely known.

Two center lanes of traffic were blocked in the area for a period of time. Police urged those in the area to use Highway 78 as an alternate route until the scene was cleared.
