Atlanta, GA – Rear-End Collision on I-20 at I-285 Leaves Victims Hurt
Atlanta, GA (March 16, 2022) – Injuries stemmed from a serious rear-end collision that took place on a roadway in Atlanta on Wednesday evening, March 16.
Cobb County officials confirmed that the accident happened around 6:15 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-20 at I-285. Two vehicles were reportedly traveling in the right lanes when one struck the other from behind. Both sustained heavy damages and had to be towed from the scene.
Several first responders, including Atlanta paramedics and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene to help those with injuries. One or more victims were hurt as a result of the accident and taken to local hospitals for treatment, though their current conditions are not yet known.
Because of the severity of the accident, the roadway was blocked across all lanes, with traffic diverted through a turn lane, until police were able to clear the scene.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing at this time. Police will release more information as it becomes available.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Rear-End Wrecks in Georgia
Known as the most common type of auto accident, rear-end collisions happen frequently on our nation’s roads. In fact, in just one year’s time, more than half of the vehicle wrecks that occurred throughout the Peach State were classified as rear-end accidents, also known as fender benders.
But despite the fact that these incidents usually result in minor bumps and bruises, these collisions are also responsible for a large percentage of more serious injuries, including:
- Whiplash and other spinal cord injuries
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Broken bones or fractures
- Internal bleeding and organ damage
Unfortunately, approximately 7% of fatal accidents were caused by rear-end collisions last year.
But no matter the cause of your accident or the severity of the injuries you sustain, it’s important to safeguard your legal rights in the aftermath.
The steps that you take following your collision can ensure that your rights are being protected after a crash. After you have received medical attention, you should retain the help of an attorney as soon as possible.
Don’t trust insurance companies to have your best interests in mind. If you have been injured in a crash that’s occurred through no fault of your own, you and your family should consult a knowledgeable Atlanta car accident attorney.
