Atlanta, GA (January 6, 2023) – Around 2 a.m. on the morning of Friday, January 6, a pedestrian was struck and killed in an accident in Atlanta.
According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-285 around the area of the Indian Creek MARTA station. Police confirmed that a pedestrian was attempting to cross the street in the area when they were struck by a passenger vehicle due to reasons that are not yet known. The driver of the passenger remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were called to the scene to help those with injuries. The pedestrian, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. All lanes were closed around the area of Memorial Drive until the scene was cleared.
