Atlanta, GA (March 20, 2023) – Around 2:53 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, March 19, one person was killed in a fatal car accident that took place on a major highway in Atlanta.

According to Atlanta Police, the accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-75 around the area of Northside Drive. Police confirmed that a driver in a Kia Soul was traveling south when their vehicle rolled, causing it to fall into the northbound lanes of I-75. From there, the vehicle was struck by a driver in a Chrysler 300 that was traveling north. The driver of the Chrysler became trapped inside their vehicle.

Paramedics, fire crews, and several other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The driver of the Kia, who has not yet been formally identified, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the Chrysler was trapped in their vehicle but is expected to be okay.

Due to the severity of the accident, all lanes of traffic were blocked in the area until police were able to clear the scene.

No further details have been released at this time. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
